"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." She reminds me of the franchise treats Akuma in how she's technically supposed to be one of the evil characters, but the franchise constantly plays her as more neutral except in very specific situations.Įdited by KnownUnknown on Aug 3rd 2023 at 11:10:45 AM But then since it's SF 6 you eventually meet her when she's not working for the bad guys any more, and she just shrugs off the animosity and teaches you martial arts - albeit being a bit mean about it - and it's also revealed that she does good stuff for money too. Imo they only really managed it in Street Fighter 6, which establishes her as a mercenary for hire and actually shows the protagonists on the downer end of her working for bad guys at the moment. Sometimes they go too far in the other direction, and you get stuff like Street Fighter 5 where she's blatantly a good guy who just happens to also think the police can get bent. Sometimes they go so far in one direction that they basically dropping the "trying to stop the bad guys" thing entirely (like what happened with Street Fighter X Tekken, with her literally just being Bison's dragon). ![]() She's supposed ot be an antagonist, but plotwise she's pretty consistently almost always on the good guys' side, and the series has always had a bit of trouble balancing "she's also trying to stop the bad guys" with "but she's totally also a villain, guys, we swear." It's been a problem with her supposed rivalry with Chun Li, in particular, since they're actually rarely on opposite sides.
